The following information is being provided to assist students and teachers attending the Middle School Honors Band Clinic. Please read this material carefully and discuss it with the students from your school who will be attending. Because we have almost 600 students involved, every bit of assistance you can give to assure that the event moves smoothly will be appreciated. Five "equal" bands have been selected this year. Each student needs to bring his/her own folding music stand. We WILL NOT furnish stands. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
Guest Conductors
The guest conductors for the EKU
Middle
School Honors Bands will be announced soon -
we are sure your youngsters will enjoy working
with these fine conductors!

Meals and Housing
Eastern Kentucky University cannot assume responsibility for the housing and meals of the participants. Supervision of students is the responsibility of the band director or appointed supervisor from each school. The Food Court (bottom floor) in the Powell Center will be open for the students if they wish to eat on campus between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., thus making it unnecessary to leave campus if you so choose.
Overnight housing is available from our local Motels. Click here for local motel listings. In most cases, the motels will be able to honor tax exempt certificates from your school and avoid the state tax. Directors MUST BRING A TAX EXEMPT FORM FROM THEIR BOARD OF EDUCATION to be exempt from the state tax but all must pay a hotel tax. When calling, indicate that you wish the special rate for students and teachers attending the Middle Schools Honors Bands at EKU.
Students Need to Bring
All students should bring their own instruments, music stands and additional reeds, valve oil etc. PERCUSSIONISTS SHOULD PLAN ON BRINGING THEIR OWN STICKS, MALLETS. We may be able to supply a limited number of the very large instruments IF WE ARE NOTIFIED IN ADVANCE. They will also need money for two meals.
