Dear Middle School Instrumental Music Director: 

The Department of Music at Eastern Kentucky University is pleased to announce that it will host the annual Middle School Honors Bands on Saturday, December 13, 2008. The tentative schedule for the day may be found inside this brochure. This program is designed for the advanced student rather than beginners. Four groups will be selected for the event. 

Students participating must be recommended by their band or orchestra directors using the forms supplied with this mailing, one form for each student. Please limit the number of students your recommend to NO MORE than 25% of your middle school band enrollment. Duplicate additional forms as needed. Students applications will be accepted on first-received, first served basis. Every effort will be made to include students from every school that applies prior to the deadline. We cannot guarantee that all students submitted will be accepted. 

Each student participating will be assessed a participation fee of $25.00 to cover the expenses of the day's activities. This fee will be due on the day of registration. Meals will be available at the student's expense on the campus or at the many local restaurants. For students and directors coming from distances too great to come on Saturday morning, an arrangement has been made with local motels for group rates. Information on housing is available upon request. 

In order for this event to work properly, we need an early response from directors regarding participation. Therefore, we are asking that student applications reach our office by NO LATER THAN October 01, 2008. We will make every effort to notify you and the students of their acceptance by November 7, 2008.  If you have special needs in booking your student transportation in advance, just call us.  Late applications will be rejected. Thanks for your cooperation.

4:45 pm 6:00 - 6:20 pm 6:25 pm	Dinner (Responsibility of Students) Pre-Concert Warm-Ups All Bands Seated in Brock, except "on deck" band in Jones 1st floor lobby/foyer
6:30 p.m.	Concert featuring Honors Bands Hiram Brock Auditorium, Parents Welcome - Free Admission
