Music Alumnus of the Year
Tim Brumfield
We are
proud to announce that Tim Brumfield has been named 2004 Alumni
of the Year. Tim graduated from EKU in 1986 with a degree
in piano performance and many of you may remember him at the
piano for University Singers, Show Choir, Madrigals and countless
recitals. Tim studied with Dr. Roe Van Boskirk while
at Eastern and credits a lot of his success today to his musical
experiences he had while at EKU.
Today
Tim lives and works in New York City. He is Cathedral
Organist at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and has
performed with pianist Dave Brubeck, saxophonist Paul Winter,
the Paul Winter Consort, drummer Max Roach, and legendary
folk singer Judy Collins. He has been featured on National
Public Radio and toured with the Cathedral Choristers performing
in Washington DC, New Jersey and last spring throughout England.
He is considered one of the world's finest organ improvisers
and is featured regularly on the "Improvisation Organ Series"
at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine. As a solo organist,
he has toured Europe performing in Denmark, Italy and in France
at the world famous Notre Dame Cathedral.
On the
recording scene, Tim's recent release entitled Kentucky
Serenade features original piano compositions with guest
artists and musicians from Nashville and LA. This CD is getting
the attention of listeners throughout Kentucky and New York
for its diverse selections including a Stephen Foster Medley
and improvisations on favorite hymns.
