The EKU Brass welcomed their newest member, trumpet professor Joe VanFleet, to the group and the faculty of EKU this semester (Fall 2006). Joe VanFleet has been been a fantastic addition to the group and the EKU Brass are working to make their performances even better with his help.

The EKU Brass are currently winding up the fall semester at Eastern Kentucky University and recently completed their fall recital this past October.

The group will be focusing their attention on recruiting for the upcoming Spring semester and will be giving recitals to area high schools (A listing of events and dates coming soon). If you are a prospective student or are a school band director interested in having the quintet come to your school, please contact the EKU Music Department Office.

Also on the recruiting agenda is finding the next trumpet player to fill the graduate assistant position. This position is currently filled by University of Iowa alumni, Steve Wheeler. Steve will be graduating this coming May with his master's degree and the group will be looking for new talent to fill the spot.
