The EKU Brass is the resident brass quintet at Eastern Kentucky University. Made up of faculty members and one graduate student, the group has been a very active part of the university music scene in Kentucky and Southern Ohio. With recruiting being one of their main focuses, the group has played numerous times at Kentucky Music Educators Conference, a major educational conference for the state of Kentucky. They have also performed for two MENC/NACWPI National Conference and played at an ITG (International Trumpet Guild) National Conference. The EKU Brass has also performed all over the country in such states as Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, and North Carolina, just to name a few. The group has recorded three CD's and has commissioned a piece by John Cheetham.
Currently playing in the EKU Brass are Eastern Kentucky University faculty members (pictured left) Ken Haddix (Trombone), Mick Sehmann (French Horn), Jim Willett (Tuba), graduate assistant Steve Wheeler (Trumpet), and Joe VanFleet (Trumpet).
