Music 384 Projects: Garageband

30 Second Commercial
This is a sound wipe I did for a Sci-Fi Channel commercial. The piano and sythesizers are looped and I programmed the drum track by using the keyboard. I wanted the commercial to have an overall feel of creepiness, so when I recorded the voice track I doubled it. One track is just my voice with reverb and delay, while the other track is off by about half of a second and has several effects including reverb, delay and an octave effect. By doing this, it gave the voice a bizzarre tone and I think it is fitting to the overall mood. The Sci-Fi Channel should definitely pay me.
3 Minte Original Composition
This is a song I made in Garageband by using loops and programming some of my own tracks as well. Several of the tracks were manipulated, meaning I would cut the track up into the notes I wanted and placed them to my own accord. An example of this can be heard in the vibraphone intro and the organ in the outro.
I wanted to do a song that wasn't necessarily genre defined, so I picked several different styles and combined them. The song includes hints of jazz, lounge, electronica, funk and even a samba section. The song is written in ABABC form, which is basically the traditional pop song form of verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge. Enjoy.
An American Tribute
(podcast)
This is a podcast I made based off of pure ridiculousness. The idea came to me out of complete randomness and I just ran with it. After I was finished adding the pictures and the music, I slowly realized that it was just awkward to watch and people began to think I had a strange obsession. I decided to add some subtitle commentary on certain pictures for comedic effect, but I'll let you be the judge of it.
The podcast was made with iMovie and then sent into Garageband where I added the music. It was a fairly simple process with the exception of working in iMovie. The program was highly uncooperative at certain times but after finding patience, I was able to solve the problem.
Digital Performer Round
This is a round that I made in class. It has four tracks that loop over each other. The instrument banks that I used include church organ, grand piano, vibraphone and kalimba. Each track has midi controllers for volume, panning, sustain, vibrato, chorus and delay.
