Goose's Get Downs, Sick Licks and Little Diddies

My best  and worst found Choral site.

30 sec coke Zero Commercial

On this project I really didn't have a game plan at first because I couldn't develop an idea but then I just started pulling up loops and the funk started flowing.  I actually made my music before I made my decision on the real use for it.  I   found it hard to really develop any real idea about the music and where i wanted it to go when I had just the piano track because that was the first track that i put in.  Slowly as I put each track in it started coming to life.  I tooled around for a while with my voice over for this little bit and put a few different effects on it

3 min get down

Being that my 3 min song was supposed to be a packed exciting 30 second piece at first, it took a bit of creativity to drag it out for 2 min and 30 seconds longer than was planned in the first place.  I feel that it was a pretty busy song and i like it that way.  i feel that it would  be considered ABA form.  I started out with some sweet funk and then pulled it thin in the middle and gave most of the tracks their own lead at some point or another.  Then  brought back most of the tracks to jam together in the end. i also really liked mixing things that typically wouldn't be mixed, like different orchestral instruments and some club or blues beats.  I did run into a little trouble working with the different keys that some of the loops were in.  I think that for my first big song project it turned out pretty good.

pod cast

I had a really hard time picking what I wanted to do this pod cast project on.  I think that one of the reasons that it was so hard is that I am not really your picture taking type of person, so I don't really have a bunch of pictures in a file that I could make a nice story out of.  So I just had to surf Google Images for a while and pick what i could find a good number of pictures on a special topic.  So I just picked a topic that I like a lot and googled it.  this project went pretty smoothly all except i had some trouble getting the sound and the pics to all be nice to each other and stay.

Digital performer, round project

This project was pretty fun to do, messing with the loops and patches and all the effects.  Although it did get kind of hard when it came to matching things so that they sounded good together.  I put several controllers in it and didn't' run into any problems there.   I thought that this was a good intro to Digital Performer.

Digital  Performer, Accompaniment
Well I must say that this project made me hate DP for a long time.  I am better now but still a little bitter towards it.  at he very start of this project i was kind of ok with it but after about the first day it all fell a part.  It took me a few weeks to get back on the horse.  about the time that I started to get the hang of it again we got 2 more assignments and then i was trying to split my time between all of them.  This made the following few weeks very unproductive.  I had trouble playing in all the parts for this project because I am not good at piano at all. and i was kind of freaking out.   Once i started taking it one measure at a time and decided to spend all my time on just this project I was finally able to really Knock it out.  I also caught on to it pretty fast once the ball started rolling.  Another thing that set me back on this and the other projects is that my keyboard kept messing up on me.  For about 2 weeks straight I had to transpose everything up a half step and one of those weeks it was also playing in the octaves for me too.  this didn't make my life any easier.  let's just say that i am really glad that i finished this project.

Audacity
In this audacity project we had to make a round.  So being the first round that we were doing I used the classic,  Row row, Row your boat.  I felt that Audacity was actualy a pretty easy program to figure out. at least for entry level things like this.  It didn't take much at all for me to figure out how to cut it, copy it, and line it all up.  On top of all this there was a whole arsonal of optional effects you could put on your recordings. All in all it was a pretty good time.

Sibelius
When we started on these Sibelius  projects I was really excited about this program, it seemed so easy.  I finished the Duke Elington project with out any Problem at all and it really didn't take me long either.  Then shortly after this we started Finale and that messed up all of my world, I started getting everything mixed up between the two programs.  But like the Digital performer project I just had to work on this one and only this one till it was done. Once i started pumng it out I really did it pretty quickly.

Finale
I really didn't like this program at first but then I started really getting into it and i found that it really isnt' all that bad. just takes a little bit to get used to.
