Euphonium Manufacturers EKU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble
Reviewing the Articles of Some of the Manufacturers of the Euphonium
Review of Site 1 (9)
This manufacturer’s website was very informative about the
instruments that it made (9), but only after you found the instrument you
were looking for. This could be tricky at times if you didn’t know where
to look or what you were trying to find (8). The load speed was generally
good (10). Also the eye candy was acceptable (if you are a horn player)(9).
Review of Site 2 (5.5)
The manufacturers at Amadi have quite a bit of information
on their web page, but who is really going to read every last thing on it
(5). There is even a link to an even more in depth history about the company.
It takes a few too many clicks to find anything about any of their instruments
and I wasn’t really sure what to click on (5). The load speed seems to be
good (10), but only because there aren’t too many interesting things to
look at on it, no eye candy (2).
Review of Site 3 (9)
Instruments Made by Bach
(Selmer)
Selmer and Bach now being one company have a very cool looking
web page with information down the middle and all of their hyperlinks along
the left hand side of the screen (9). The links are under specific headings
making things a bit more easy for the user (10). This took a bit longer
to open (8) because of the format and images of the page (9).
Review of Site 4 (6.25)
This has got to be one of the most simple sites I have ever
seen. The people at Besson are to the point with the links you get to choose
from, but there is absolutely no information about them on their home page
(4). The links do, however, make things easier to find (10). I’m not really
sure why it took as long as it did for this site to load (5) seeing as how
there are no images on it at all, just a cool looking wallpaper (6).
Review of Site 5 (7.5)
There isn’t too much information on Conn’s home page about
them, but there is enough to help the browser (8). This site is set up with
the links on the left side of the page in a format that seems to be standard.
Everything that anyone could be looking for is very easily accessible for
the user (9). The load speed is also very good because of the amount of
information and images on the page (9). There isn’t much to look at though
(4).
Review of Site 6 (8.5)
The home page for the Getzen company features their trumpet
mostly, but there are links to get a look at some of their other instruments
(8). Having the links on the left of the page makes things easier to find
(9). Even with the huge picture of a trumpet on the page the load speed
was good (8). For being a short page there is quite a few things to look
at and draw the attention of the user (9).
Review of Site 7 (9)
Instruments
Made by Hirsbrunner
Although Hirsbrunner is the best manufacturer for tuba and
euphoniums their web page isn’t the best, although I do genuinely like the
eye candy on the page (9). The navigability of the site is pretty straight
forward though, like many sites click on the subject you want to look at
(9). The load speed was good (9). There isn’t much information about the
company or their product on the home page (6).
Review of Site 8
Instruments Made by Holton
(LeBlanc)
The load time on this site isn’t very good at all (4). The
fact that there are many different features and moving picture may contribute
to the slowness, but they also contribute to the eye candy on the page (10).
All of the pictures are about their clarinets and offer no information about
the company (4). The links on this page are at the top instead of on the
left, but are still easy to find (8).
Review of Site 9 (7)
The load of Jupiter’s home page isn’t too bad, but the animated
pictures make it a little slower than normal (6). The animated pictures
make the page enjoyable to look at (8). There is only a small paragraph
of information at the bottom of the screen and there really isn’t much to
read (6). The site is very user friendly though, but it may have a few too
many links (8).
Review of Site 10 (7.5)
Instrument manufacturer King’s web page has a fast load
speed (10) which can be very surprising considering all of the wonderful
eye catching pictures on this page (10). There really isn’t any kind of
information on this page though (2). The links are huge on the page because
each picture is a link so it is easy to find your way around the site (8).
Review of Site 11 (8.5)
Miraphone has pretty web page. The wallpaper is pleasant,
but I’m not sure if the man in the picture is the creature of Miraphone
or just a random man holding what I hope is a Miraphone tuba (8). Changing
the language is easy enough for those who spoke and read English, there
is a search bar as well making things even easier on the user (10). As I
said I’m not sure who the guy is, so that means there isn’t quite enough
information on the page (6). Load speed isn’t a problem (9).
Review of Site 12 (7.5)
Instruments
Made by Reynolds (Olds)
This web page isn’t the most eye popping site in the world
(4). It’s easy to navigate though, because of all of the search bars there
are to make your search more specific (9). There is quite a bit of information
on the page that most people really won’t read (6). The load speed is fine
though (10).
Review of Site 13 (9)
Willson’s web page is easy for anyone to use. Half of the
screen is in German and the other half is in English with all of their products
pictured and described on the home page so there is no need to click on
anything (9). Because all of their products are pictured on the home page
there is plenty of eye candy for those who play tuba or euphonium (9). There
tends to be much more information on the page in this format, but most of
it is to the point (9). There are no links on this page so this also makes
the load speed fast (9).
Review of Site 14 (7.5)
This web page has plenty to look at on it (9). There are quite a few links,
but not very much information about Yamaha (6). The links take up the whole
page which make them hard to miss, so navigability is easy for the user
(8). Even with so many links and pictures there wasn’t much difficulty in
loading it (8).
Review of Site 15 (7)
By looking at the web page it is obvious that Dynasty makes marching band
instruments. This is rather useful information and by mousing over the information
on the page more information becomes available (9). It has a lot to look
at (9), but the video on the page made its load speed slow down quite a
bit (4). There is a lot of information on this site and it can be a little
overwhelming at times to figure out what you need to click on to view what
it is you want to view (6).
Review of Site 16 (9)
Instruments Made by Woodwind Brasswind
The Woodwind Brasswind site has so much for any instrumentalist to look
at on their home page, especially if you like shiny objects (10). Virtually
every aspect of this site is a link, see something you like, just click
on it (10). There isn’t much information about the company or their instruments
though (6). The load speed is great (9).
Review of Site 17 (7)
The B&S web page includes lots information that I know I would never read
all of (4). It’s set up nicely with many pictures (8). There are a few links
all over the site, at the top, bottom and on the left side (8). Loading
this page was not a problem (8).
Review of Site 18 (9)
There are so many pictures of Euphoniums on this page it is such eye candy
for me (9). There is also plenty of information about those instruments
pictured (9). Load speed was good (8) and each picture is a hyperlink to
more information about it (9).
review of Site 19 (6)
The Unison site is essentially a link site between other manufacturers
such as Dynasty and Willson. There isn’t much information on it (4). It
is a nice looking site, but not many pictures to look at (4). Load speed
was good because of the lack of material (8). Everything is a link so it’s
easy to know what to click on (8).
Review of Site 20 (7)
This site is very nice looking (8), but it provides little in English unless
you can figure out how to make it in English. Although everything on the
screen is a hyperlink (8). You actually have to click around to find any
information about the company or its products (4). Overall the load speed
was good (8).
Review of Site 21 (8)
The first thing I was drawn to upon opening this site were
the many pictures of instruments on it (10). The load speed was a little
slow, but not as bad as it could be (7). There is a small paragraph of information
about the company (6) and the rest of the page is devoted to the eye candy
and links making it quite user friendly (8).
Review of Site 22 (7)
Instruments Made by Meinl Weston
There is no mistaking what web site you are looking at when you open Meinl Weston's web page, their name is huge at the top of the page with no other information except links to their history (6). It isn't a very catchy site to look at either (6), although the load speed was good (9). It is easy to navigate because everything was a link (8).
Review of Site 23 (6)
This site took a little while to load completely (6) because of the world map that is a link depending on the country the mouse is on so navigating is not a problem (8). There wasn't very much to look at though (6). Also there was not enough information as to what the site was for (4).
Review of Site 24 (8)
Instruments Shipped
by Baltimore Brass Co.
There weren't enough makers of Tubas and Euphoniums, but
this shipping company has a good looking web page (8). There is plenty of
information about the items they ship, but not much about the company itself
(7). The load speed was good (9) and the only links are at the top of the
page making them easier to find (8).
Review of Site 25 (8)
Instruments Shipped
by Giardinelli
The most eye catching site I think I have yet to see (10).
Everything on it is a link to whatever you want to get a closer look at
(10). The load speed was also very good (10). There were some important
pieces of information on the page, like the price of their instruments,
but not much about the company (8).
