Presented below is an overview of the suggested repertoire for
each year of study. These lists merely provide the student with a
starting point from which to choose their repertoire. No one is expected
to perform all of these works in four or five years of study. The
best way to proceed is to read through new works each week to build
an understanding of the guitar's fundamental repertoire and pick

It is assumed that all Freshman guitar majors, regardless or their
degree program, will work quickly to remedy any deficiencies that
fall below the minimum standards acceptable for collegiate guitar study.
Such standards include, but are not limited to the following:

| Its impossible to develop your knowledge, technique, and musicality
without building a basic private library. The library either has, or will
soon have all of these items. They have already acquired numerous works
for the guitar and many more are on order. You do not have to get everything
your first semester. We will discuss what you need in your private lessons.
