Welcome - Rob James (Chair) |
|
The EKU Department of Music features approximately 20 student ensembles comprised from 250 undergraduate and graduate music majors. Many non-music majors drawn from a general enrollment of 17,000 also participate. Student ensembles are open to any student enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University. Eastern offers a wide variety of instrumental, vocal, and chamber ensembles, that are open to all majors and non-majors. Some ensembles do require an audition. Auditions are usually scheduled at the beginning of each semester. Scholarship assistance is available to talented musicians by contacting the applied faculty member in their area. Some ensembles have instruments available for students to use free of charge. Please use the ensemble links to contact ensemble directors for more audition and scholarship information. Performing regularly throughout the region, the faculty ensembles at EKU are available for public and private engagements. Information regarding availability, scheduling, and cost can be obtained by contacting each ensemble directly. Faculty ensembles feature many of our 26 full-time and 8 part-time instructors. Your school can contact our faculty, or faculty ensembles, to arrange a visit. They regularly present concerts, clinics, and assist directors in the development of their programs.
