Dear Music Student:
It is with pleasure that I introduce you to the Department
of Music at Eastern Kentucky University. We are proud of our music
programs and I hope you will find these web pages informative and interesting.
The Department of Music endeavors to offer each student knowledge of the historical,
stylistic and theoretical aspects of music, to relate this knowledge to the
literature of music, and to develop excellence in performance and teaching.
Music scholarships are awarded on the basis of competitive auditions. We invite
you to call or write the Department for more information.
Eastern's degree programs in music are accredited by the National Association
of Schools of Music (NASM), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS) and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education
(NCATE).
Why should you study music at Eastern? We are very concerned
with the individual student and your needs. We feel we can offer you quality
instruction with a highly qualified faculty in a friendly atmosphere of career
development.
I urge you to visit our campus. Please call (859) 622-3266
for an appointment with me or any faculty member in the area of your
interest. We would be happy to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Rob James
